Be on the lookout for version 3 of the lincoln penny

it was released today, so probably will start landing at banks soon. great way to make a quick buck if your bank is lucky to be one of the first to receive the $25 boxes

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Abraham Lincoln got a present for his 200th birthday - a brand-new penny.

Officials with the U.S. Mint plan revealed the new penny Thursday.

On the front is the classic Lincoln image that's been on pennies for years. On the back, Lincoln is shown delivering a speech at the Old State Capitol in Illinois.

Joel Iskowitz designed the penny. He calls it the biggest honor of his career and says it's a little daunting to think that so many people will see it.

This is the third of 4 new pennies marking the 200th anniversary of Lincoln's birth.

The earlier pennies showed the log cabin where Lincoln was born and a scene of Lincoln reading. The fourth penny will celebrate Lincoln as president.

LOL zinc is almost plastic.

I think it goes ( from cheapest to less cheap) electronic credit, paper, plastic, aluminum, zinc.

You know you can plate zinc and copper onto plastic, so we could have plastic cents in the future. However I think they will just get rid of the cent altogether as Obamanomics leads to 10 and 20 % inflation in the coming years - the cent will basically be worthless. They'll probably go to nickle plated zinc for the 5 cent piece.
